---Get To Know Us

Antioch Fitness Center

This Spring, get in shape, and learn how to care for your spiritual and physical body. Join us weeknights at the Antioch Fitness Center. As part of our commitment to building people, we want to not only focus on your spiritual needs, but we want to address your physical needs as well. Whether you want the rigorous activity of aerobics and Tae-bo or you want to come out and be part of our volleyball and basketball free-play, there is something for every member to do. And best of all, it’s free and is taught be trained fitness instructors.

Here’s a look at what’s happening (click here for a printable schedule):

Mondays come out and enjoy a one-hour Aerobics workout beginning at 6:30 PM. The class is taught by Donna Smith. She will get you moving with energizing routines designed to work the entire body.

Tuesdays, enjoy the challenges of Tae-bo and Step Aerobics, from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Taught by Byron Mason and Sheila Venters, these sessions will challenge you to work harder and smarter toward achieving the “fit body” that you desire to have. We will attack belly fat with targeted moves and we’ll do it without the stress and strain of crunches. And the best part of all is that you will still get the firm stomach that you’ve always wanted. The cardio steps will rev up your metabolism and elevate your energy while sculpting your body.

For those who want to experience a good work-out while being involved in a team sport, then we invite you to participate in our volleyball games. We have games for men and women that are just right for whatever skill set you have, led by Diana Long. Volleyball games are held 7:30 – 8:45 PM on Tuesdays.

Thursdays, we invite you to return for aerobics at 6:30 PM. Also meeting at the same time is our Cycling (Spinning) class. Bring your bicycles and enjoy a stationary work-out, designed to build and keep your legs in great shape.  Now that weather is getting warmer, we will move from our stationary positions, to taking the bikes on the road. Instructor Greg Allen is ready to take you on an hour of energizing power!

Finally, if you think you’ve got game, then we invite you to join us for Adult Basketball on Thursdays at 7:30 PM. This is a chance for the guys to shoot some hoops without worrying about the foul language that sometimes accompanies a good game. The instructor is Bobby Henderson and he is ready to help you with you’re a-game.

The Antioch Fitness Center is free and available to members. For more information, please contact Rev. Abe Cooper, Jr., Associate Pastor of Recreation and Community Services at acooper@afmbc.org.
