ANTIARK
NURSERY

Inside the Ark

Welcome to the Antiark Nursery where Crystal Perry serves as the captain!

We have fashioned the theme of Noah’s Ark and the name of Antioch to coin the term, "Antiark Nursery."

The Antiark Nursery is a place where loving and caring volunteers tend to children, ages newborn to 4 years-old. We believe that everyone deserves the love and compassion that Jesus Christ expects of us, and it is no different for the children.

The Antiark Nursery is divided into animal zones and colors relevant to each age that we serve.

Teddy Bears Zone
This is for our newborns to 1 year-olds. Their color is orange.

Monkeys Zone
This is for our 2 year-olds. Their color is blue.

Lions Zone
This is for our 3 year-olds. Their color is yellow.

Elephants Zone
This is for our 4 year-olds. Their color is green.

The Antiark Nursery is open on Sundays beginning at 8:45 AM and closes fifteen minutes after the Worship Service ends. Parents are asked to please pick up their child(ren) no later than that time. The Nursery is also open on Wednesday evenings, from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM for parents who are attending WOW (Worship on Wednesdays).

We are here and are ready to serve you and your child. If there is anything that we can do to make your time more enjoyable, please do not hesitate to contact our Nursery Director, Crystal Perry. She can be reached at nursery@afmbc.org or by calling 972.228.2420, ext. 310.

New to the Nursery

Whether this is your first visit to the Antiark Nursery, or your child is a regular attendee, we want to ensure that you are familiar with what happens from the moment that you place your child in our care.

This information explains some of our policies and procedures.

What to Expect
We understand that adjustments can be difficult for children. Your child may not want to stay in the classroom without you being there. Be patient. Talk positively about coming to the Antiark Nursery and reassure your child with plenty of hugs.

When you are leaving your child at the Nursery Check-in counter, tell him/her that you, too, are going to church, and that you will be back soon. If your child becomes upset, the staff will intervene and take the child to a calming activity. If your child cries for more than 15 minutes, we will call for you to return to the Nursery. Remember, it is helpful for you to pick up your child as soon as possible after Worship Service or an event, so that the child does not feel "left behind."

Nursery Check-In and Badges
Please make sure that you check your child in at the Nursery Check-In counter. Here, you will receive a badge for yourself and one to be attached to your child as a security precaution. Pre-schoolers who are active and attend on a continuous basis will receive a permanent number. Permanent numbers are only given to children who attend regularly on Sunday. Because of the time and materials that it takes to prepare the numbers, we only want to issue those to our regular attendees (regular attendees are those who attend 3 out of 4 Sundays each month).

Security System
The security system exists to provide an optimally safe environment for our Nursery pre-schoolers. This is accomplished through the badges that we provide in the Nursery check-in area. Parents have individual badges with their child’s number on the front. Children’s badges have the same number and their name on the badge.

New badges are processed at the Nursery Check-In counter. Please be sure to keep your badge with you at all times while you are at the church. Lost badges will be replaced for a fee of $1.00. Children’s badges are kept at the Nursery Check-In counter and worn for each event they attend in the Nursery. When you come to pick up your child, you must present the Parent badge. Without doing so, the child will not be released.

Visitors obtain a temporary badge at the Nursery Check-In. One will be issued to the parent and one to the child. The badges must be returned immediately following Worship Service.

Caring for Your Child

Food Allergies
In the Antiark Nursery, infants are fed formula, milk, water or juice (as provided by the parent or guardian) in plastic bottles or drinking cups. Time and circumstances do not allow for spoon-feeding during Sunday Morning Worship Service.

To avoid mistakes, formula and juice should already be prepared by the parent. Please note that we do NOT supply any of the above-mentioned food items.

Snacks (graham crackers, Ritz crackers, vanilla wafers, Cheetos, etc.), are served during various activities within the Nursery and are provided by the church. Please notify the Nursery Check-In Staff if your child has any food allergies. If special foods are being served in conjunction with a lesson, an allergy alert notice will be posted at the Nursery Check-In.

Special Needs Children
At the Antiark Nursery, we embrace all of God’s children. If you have a special needs child, we want to ensure you that we are capable of caring for him or her while you are in Worship Service.

In order to help us effectively serve you and your child, we ask that you meet with our Nursery Director, Crystal Perry, contact her at nursery@afmbc.org to discuss your child’s needs. This is the time to share any special instructions or sensitive information about your child. We will do our best at every point to provide the best care that we can.
