PAUL JACKSON
Minister of Music

Email: pjackson@afmbc.org

Using music and dance as a means to praise and worship God dates back to the Old Testament. Whether it was timbrels, harps, and lyres, or the dance of David, worshippers have always shown their reverence and love for God through the creative and fine arts.

At Antioch, praising and worshipping God is an integral part of our Worship Service Experience. On any given Sunday, our Praise Team or one of our six choirs is ready to share the word of God through high-energy contemporary and traditional music.

From original music composed by our Minister of Music, Paul Jackson, and our gifted musicians, to singing well-known Gospel and Christian songs, we use music as a means of ministering to believers and non-believers.

We also have a gifted Praise Dance Ministry and Mime Ministry who often share God's word through creativity, compassion and carefully choreographed moves. While the Mimes of Creation are often seen as the "silent" ministry, the truth is, both ministries are able to demonstrate that you can praise and worship God without ever uttering a word.

If you are ready to share your gift of ministry through song, praise dance or miming, we invite you to attend our rehearsals.

Praise Team

Antioch's Praise Team is comprised of a small group of gifted singers who share the word of God during the Praise and Worship Period. What sets them apart from the choirs at Antioch is the size. Their purpose, dedication and commitment remain the same: to engage people in the Worship Service Experience by leading them to God's throne through song and music.

The Praise Team sometimes acts as the "leaders" of the Praise and Worship Period, often leading selected songs, complemented by the choir. Sometimes the Praise Team, usually no more than ten singers, sings throughout the Worship Service Experience without the choir.

This is the only singing ministry where a specified skill set of sharing the word through song is required. Members of the Praise Team are selected based on singing tone, style, commitment and the ability to be stretched to the full use of their spiritual gift of singing.

To find out more about the Praise Team, contact Paul Jackson, our Minister of Music, at pjackson@afmbc.org.

Women of Worship

Akin to the Male Chorus, the Women of Worship Choir is a strong and committed group of Antioch women who use traditional song and style to share God's word.

Their soul-stirring songs often tug on the heart strings of believers and non-believers alike. This "powerhouse" choir celebrates and demonstrates how marvelous and excellent Jesus Christ is.

The Women of Worship will either leave you teary-eyed or have you standing to your feet in recognition of just how powerful the love of God is.

Rehearsal is on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM.

Voices of Praise

The best way to distinguish the Voices of Praise choir from the other Antioch choirs is that they use a mix of contemporary, traditional and popular music to minister to God's people.

Comprised of men and women who desire to share the power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through song, the Voices of Praise genuinely show how the wounded, hurt and rejected can be made whole again. Whether they are belting out a popular song by one of today's most celebrated Christian singers, or they are sharing a special story that reaches as far back to the days when our grandparents were younger, the sentiment and purpose is the same: to bring the lost to Christ and to re-unite or re-connect people to Christ.

Rehearsal for the Voices of Praise Choir is on Thursdays at 7:30 PM and is under the shared direction of Paul Jackson and Greg Seals.

Senior Saints

At Antioch, we believe that every voice should offer praise and worship to God and what better way to demonstrate this than through the Senior Saints Choir, a group of men and women whose very presence shows the power and favor of God's love.

This group shares the longevity of God's faithfulness through traditional song.

Styles range from rendering songs reminiscent of Shirley Cesar and Dorothy Norwood to the spiritual sounds of groups like Mom and Pop Winans.

Rehearsals are on select Saturdays at 11:00 AM.

Praise Dancers

Demonstrating that you can praise and worship God without ever uttering a word. The praise dancers often share God's word through creativity, compassion and carefully choreographed moves. Using the art form of dance as a ministry tool. Rehearsals are on Saturday’s beginning at 9:00 AM. For more information about the Praise Dancers, email dancers@afmbc.org.

Male Chorus

Antioch is blessed to have a strong and dedicated group of men who are committed to sharing God's word through traditional song. What an exciting time it is to see the choir stand filled with men who are so vocal about the wondrous works of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Whether it is a song led by a soloist or two or three men, the Male Chorus brings the experience of Jesus Christ to life with their authentic sound, genuine storytelling and a style that engages the congregation. It is not unusual for their "personal testimonies" to shine through as they are offering thanks for how God brought them over, through and to where they are today. The congregation readily joins in with hand-clapping, hand-waving or "out of your seat praise."

Our Male Chorus travels extensively throughout the southwest region to share God’s word with other believers. They are regularly invited to attend churches for special events such as Men's Day, Church Anniversaries and Pastor’s Appreciation Services.

The Male Chorus recorded a CD of original songs that ignite the word of God, inspire God's people and encourage them toward a life with Jesus Christ.

Rehearsal for the Male Chorus is on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM and is under the direction of Rev. Abe Cooper, Jr.

IMPACT Choir/Praise Team

Antioch is blessed beyond measure to have a youth music ministry that is dedicated to making sure that our young people not only sound good, but also know what they are singing about. The IMPACT Youth Ministry is one of the few youth ministries in the area that has its own music ministry consisting of a choir, praise team, band, and directors.
